2 New Trainee Instructors Join KISS

We are so pleased to welcome 2 new trainee instructors to KISS driver training. Diane is from Hatch Warren near Basingstoke & Paul is from Basingstoke town centre. We are so busy in the Basingstoke area and we can't wait to get them up & running, that'll take some of the pressure off. Paul has been working in the area of training previously, so hopefully that will help him in his new career. We threw him in the deep end when we recently helped out at the road safety event at Brockenhurst, he coped admirably and really enjoyed himself, it looks like he'll make a very good instructor. Diane decided to start her new career when her son took lessons with our instructor Michelle. Well done Michelle, what an inspiration you must be. We are also starting Instructor training sessions in Basingstoke on 4th Oct, this will add to the already established training at various locations in the South East, & we welcome anyone to come along and see what we do.

Eye scanning methodology

Fact: A driver needs to collect 1340 pieces of information every minute to drive skilfully. How do they do that, see the world around them as a series of dots and look at as many as them as possible continuously. That’s what we call eye scanning methodology.

Hamed passes his ADI Part 3 test in Reigate

Yes, as predicted Hamed has gone to Reigate driving test centre and passed his Part 3 test at the first attempt with us. Having come to us feeling ‘ripped off’ by a local training provider Hamed embraced our unique training aides and techniques, working with our ADI trainers in Anerley, Battersea, Kingston and Reigate. Hamed struggles with his English but with our simple to use scripts he learned that less is more. Now he has become a driving instructor in Morden with KISS, Hamed is keen to keep coming to our driving instructor training sessions so he keeps improving. Well done Hamed, KISS reaches the parts others can’t.

Free ADI training session in Basingstoke

Sally is in Basingstoke this morning doing some more Part 2 driving instructor training with Ben from Andover, Zoe from Basingstoke and Claire from Farnborough, all of them newcomers. All of them recently took advantage of our offer of attending a Free ADI Training session and were easily convinced our training will help them become a driving instructor in their own areas.

Feedback from a competitor training organisation

Feedback from a competitor training organisation offering FREE driving instructor training saying they have a 70% drop out rate. Trainer was saying that ‘of the remaining 30% quite a few are not good enough to get qualified’. Raised a smile amongst our trainers as failure is not a concept we entertain which is why we have a 95% success rate .

Bishnu passes his Part 3 test at Reading driving test centre

Another success for our driving instructor training programme as Bishnu passes his Part 3 test at Reading driving test centre. Bishnu originally went to AA driving School for his ADI training but after two attempts at the Part 3 test he felt they were not delivering the training he needed to become a driving instructor and achieve the level of competence needed to make a living. Well done Bishnu from all of the trainers in Camberley and Reading who worked with you.

New Part 3 Driving Instructor Training Manual

Fresh off the press today is our latest version of our Part 3 driving instructor training manual for new trainees. Our focus is to make our ADI training programme as simple and easy for trainees in order to help them become a driving instructor as quickly as possible. Of course by doing this we are also making it easier for our trainers to deliver training.

A Cautionary Tale

A cautionary tale from down under . Perhaps DSA should take note of this when deciding how to improve driver instructor training.

Sara and Alberto Get Married - in Alicante

Everyone at KISS trainers want to wish Sara (formerly KISS Driving Instructor in North London) and Alberto every happiness after getting married today in Alicante, Spain. She was given away by David and also in attendance were KISS trainer Tony Wood both of whom helped Sara become a very competent KISS driving instructor. Alberto is also known to many of our trainers and trainees as he has visited London several times in his attempt to sweep Sara off her feet and take her back to her home country. Sara intends to expand the KISS brand by teaching English and Spanish speaking learners how to drive in Alicante.

KISS Deliver Driving Instructor Training Programme for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)

KISS have received two more requests to quote for the delivery of our driving instructor training programme from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) this week. As the people sent to us by DWP are unemployed our 95% success rate for ADI training has become recognised as value for money because our trainees enrol to become a driving instructor and get gainfully employed.

Fatumah from Mitcham Passes her Part 3 test at Tolworth Driving Test Centre

Big congrats to Fatumah from Mitcham who this week passed her Part 3 test at Tolworth Driving Test Centre to complete her driving instructor training course. Fatumah came to us having passed Part 2 with Red Driving School and having received her 40 hours Part 3 training. She had signed an agreement with BSM to work on a franchise with them when we phoned to say ‘cancel it’. When she came to us she became quickly aware of how little she had been taught by RED and how much help she needed to develop her teaching skills. Having committed training with us at least three times a week Fatumah developed her skills with her pupils whilst on her trainee licence. Once she came down off cloud nine Fatumah sent all her trainers this message ‘Thank you everyone for all your support and belief in me. Over this short period of time I have known you all you have become like my family and everyday I thank god for having such loving people in my life. This victory is not only mine but ours as I wo...

Concerns Regarding the Current DSA Consultation

Following on from our concerns regarding the current DSA consultation on how to improve Driving Instructor Training our PR guru Brian sent the DSA a Freedom of Information (FOI) request too the DSA. This is their response which we feel goes some way to show the weakness of their statement ‘it is not necessary for a trainee to demonstrate their teaching skills with pupils to qualify: 20 August 2013                                                     Dear Mr Dunning, Information requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) Further to my email of 6 August 2013, I can confirm that we have handled your request for information about ADI part 3 test statistics within the terms of the FoIA. Your request was for: ...

Karen from Blackwater Joins the KISS Driving Instructor Training Course

We would like to welcome Karen from Blackwater on to our Driving Instructor Training course as a result of another recommendation. Until recently Karen ran a pub and wanted a career change and had been looking to become a driving instructor. She had her first Part 2 training session on her visit to us when she came to look at our unique ADI training aids and technique. Karen has confirmed she will be training with us three times a week in Camberley, Kingston and Southampton with the aim of working on a trainee licence within 3-4 months.

Should we use a sledge hammer to crack a nut?

The DSA have shown, over the last ten years or more they are unable to drive through change and they certainly haven’t demonstrated how they would train instructors to meet their currently stated  needs. In Germany trainee instructors go to university for six months to study phsycology. Ask a Part 3 examiner ‘why do you want to drive’ and you are likely get the response ‘what’s that got to do with anything’. The first issue is that there are too many trainers with insufficient knowledge to train instructors, particularly in the skills of ‘client centred learning. Similarly they will not be able to deliver coaching skills training, essential to delivering the higher levels of the GDE Matrix. Has DSA considered how this is going to be addressed as without a higher level of competence the instructors will be unable to deliver the driver standards syllabus. The flaws as we see it in the DSA argument for their preferred option are as follows: DSA endorsed the Hermes proje...

Blair Dixon Gets His Trainee Driving Licence

Alan and his ADI Training team in Camberley have achieved a first as Blair Dixon gets his trainee licence just 12 weeks after joining our Driving Instructor Training Programme. Alan says “Blair was able to take advantage of the fact we are the only company prepared to deliver PART 1, Part 2 and Part 3 training immediately when someone joins the course” adding “as a result we were able to train Blair whilst waiting for his CRB check and PDI registration”.  Blair will now be expected to continue training with us on a weekly basis in order for us to help him achieve his ambition to become a driving instructor. Well done everyone, keep up the good work.

Shanti from New Malden

Shanti from New Malden who is yet another trainee driving instructor who has joined us having been failed by another training organisation. We gave Shanti a free driver training session to show her how we train instructors to pass the driving instructor training part 2 driving test. This allowed her too immediately see the difference between the way we coach our trainee driving instructors and compare it too what she had previously done. Shanti has agreed to do Pay As You Go for her Part 2 and she will be offered a cost effective package deal for her Part 3 instructional ability training. Welcome on board Shanti from Dieter and his team in Kingston, Rod and his team in Anerley and Abdul and his team in Battersea.

Ilhem from Uxbridge

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has again awarded us with a contract to deliver our driving instructor training programme to Ilhem from Uxbridge. Ilhem had previously attempted to pass the Part 2 driving test with the assistance of an ADI but had failed three times. She has now passed the Part 1 theory test by herself and has now started to attend our ADI Training with Kaye and her team in Uxbridge.

Welcome on board David from Romford

David from Romford who has been enrolled on our Driving Instructor Training programme by the Department of Work and Pensions. This is as a result of us being able to ensure trainees complete the qualification process to become a driving instructor. David will become a qualified driving instructor once he has completed his ADI Training and go on to enjoy a career as a driving instructor. He has already begun his Part 2 and Part 3 training and we anticipate he will be working on a trainee licence within a couple of months.

Reginald Joins KISS after a Bad Experience with Other Driving Instructor Programmes

We are happy to welcome Reginald, yet another Part 3 trainee who has joined our driving instructor training programme in Anerley, Battersea and Kingston. Like many other trainees who join us, Reginald wasn’t able to progress with the organisation he originally paid to train him. Having delivered both minimal and inadequate training the company concerned demanded more and more money which their contract permitted them to do. Too many companies have too much small print in which they bury bad news. Buyer beware!
