Clare starts at Ilford for Driving Instructor Training

Love the enthusiasm of new girl Claire who’s arrived at Ilford driving instructor training nice and early this pm. Never ceases to amaze us how willing the trainers are to deliver ADI training to people who simply show commitment to become a driving instructor. Great interaction between trainees in our East London sessions which makes it so easy to integrate new people into our unique programme.

Nembang, Bishnu, Mek and Harry all working hard on their Part 2 and 3 training sessions.

Hampshire County Council Invite KISS Driving Instructor Trainers to Discuss Collaborating on a Minibus Driver Certification Programme

Hampshire County Council (HCC) invited 6 KISS trainers to a meeting in Winchester to discuss collaborating on MiDAS (minibus driver certification programme). Our role would be to assess and train the trainers who would then assess, train and certify minibus drivers. HCC presentation was a perfect match for what we have been doing on our Fleet Driver Training Course and so would be an easy delivery for us. Good evenings work guys.

Cindy passes her check test at Hither Green Driving Test Centre

Just heard Cindy who has just passed her check test at Hither Green Driving Test Centre. Cindy helps Rod and the team with driving instructor training in Anerley, South London every Tuesday afternoon and is working through modular Fleet Driver trainer course. Her examiner said he was impressed with her client centred skills and fully expects her to get a grade six on her second check test.

Matthew from Coulsdon Has passed his Part 3 test at the first attempt!!

More great news for Rod and his team in Anerley in South London as Matthew from Coulsdon has passed his Part 3 test at the first attempt. Matthew originally joined Red Driving School to train to become a driving instructor with them but quickly became disillusioned with the level and quantity of Part 2 training available to him. He joined the KISS driving instructor training programme at the Part 2 stage and passed that at the first attempt at Reigate Driving Test Centre. Well done Matt

Back to the routine, Rod and his team congregate in Anerley, South London for their regular weekly driving instructor training in-car session. There’s no doubt success breeds success as everyone is buzzing with the great news about Cindy and Matthew. Lots of positive thinking and doing with lots more people who want to become a driving instructor.

Driving Instructor Training in Ilford

Quiet day in Ilford this week, Tony away on holiday Kelly, Dave, James also away this week. Just working with Jennie on Part 2 and Part 3 driving instructor training in Ilford which went well .

KISS Deliver Driving Instructor Training Programme for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)

KISS have received two more requests to quote for the delivery of our driving instructor training programme from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) this week. As the people sent to us by DWP are unemployed our 95% success rate for ADI training has become recognised as value for money because our trainees enrol to become a driving instructor and get gainfully employed.

KISS Driving Instructor Training in Kingston and Reigate - Omar's Experience

Hi, I am Omar and I  came to KISS for Part 2 and Part 3 training having first passed the Part 1 test by myself thinking this was the quicker way to do things. I quickly learned the value of our training aids and techniques however and saw others joining us doing Part 2 and Part 3 training even before they had done their CRB check and registration. What I like about our driving instructor training course is we are encouraging trainees to think about a career beyond just being a highly skilled driving instructor. I deliver our modular fleet driver training course on a weekly basis and develop trainees ready to train instructors themselves even before they become an ADI. You are very welcome to come and see me and Dieter and Andy in Kingston or Reigate every week but please ring first as we don’t stand still for very long .

ADI Training Session in KISS in Barnet

Another ADI training session with Alex and his team in Barnet working on Part 2 and Part 3 training. Nash had a good Part 3 day, Ilham has a lot to learn with Part 2 having joined us after getting training previously from an ADI in Uxbridge. Dave is getting more focussed on Part 3 training now and is developing well .

Driving Instructor Training Session in Belvedere

Training session in Belvedere today with Christine , Rob and their team focussing on Fleet Training as well as Driving Instructor Training. Safia again getting good positive feedback about her development, Rajesh showing signs of nerves. Emanual on his Part 2 training session started well but tended to lose concentration so we need to work on that. Kevin brought a pupil along as he identified problems, we found the pupil had a good level of knowledge but wasn’t actively using it, so we encouraged him to talk things through which should work in time .

Fatumah from Mitcham Passes her Part 3 test at Tolworth Driving Test Centre

Big congrats to Fatumah from Mitcham who this week passed her Part 3 test at Tolworth Driving Test Centre to complete her driving instructor training course. Fatumah came to us having passed Part 2 with Red Driving School and having received her 40 hours Part 3 training. She had signed an agreement with BSM to work on a franchise with them when we phoned to say ‘cancel it’. When she came to us she became quickly aware of how little she had been taught by RED and how much help she needed to develop her teaching skills. Having committed training with us at least three times a week Fatumah developed her skills with her pupils whilst on her trainee licence. Once she came down off cloud nine Fatumah sent all her trainers this message ‘Thank you everyone for all your support and belief in me. Over this short period of time I have known you all you have become like my family and everyday I thank god for having such loving people in my life. This victory is not only mine but ours as I wo

KISS Driving Instructor Training Team in Camberley

Alan , Kaye , Sally and the team convene for their regular weekly driving instructor training sessions in Camberley. Car park peaked at fifteen trainees cars with us today so busy busy day delivering one to one training. Also joined by a new trainee Karen who has joined our ADI training programme. Having been recommended to us by an instructor who trained with RED she has signed up immediately after just one Part 2 training session with Kaye. We are expecting a further two new trainees joining our Camberley programme next week.

KISS Driving Instructor Training Centre in Southampton

Neil and his team meet in Southampton this morning as Ollie prepares to take her Part 2 today at Southampton (Maybush) practical driving test centre. Whilst she is off doing that Albert and Blair are doing some Part 3 training which is going well. Ollie is back and great news she has passed her Part 2 test with just three faults. Great ADI training day guys.

Concerns Regarding the Current DSA Consultation

Following on from our concerns regarding the current DSA consultation on how to improve Driving Instructor Training our PR guru Brian sent the DSA a Freedom of Information (FOI) request too the DSA. This is their response which we feel goes some way to show the weakness of their statement ‘it is not necessary for a trainee to demonstrate their teaching skills with pupils to qualify: 20 August 2013                                                     Dear Mr Dunning, Information requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) Further to my email of 6 August 2013, I can confirm that we have handled your request for information about ADI part 3 test statistics within the terms of the FoIA. Your request was for: 1. In the past three annual reporting periods, how many candidates who successfully passed ADI part 3 held a trainee licence and how many did not hold a trainee licence? 2. In the same period as 1, how many candidates that failed ADI part 3 held a

KISS Driving Instructor Michal in Belvedere

When I embarked on making the effort to become a driving instructor I never envisaged I would end up training driving instructors myself. Like many others I was struggling to learn and understand the Part 3 skills required to teach learners with an training organisation when I was recommended to come to KISS. For all of us who have trained elsewhere the difference between how KISS develops instructors and how everyone else does it was immediately obvious and dramatically refreshing. As soon as I started to use KISS training aids and do the training I felt very comfortable and now I show trainee driving instructors how to do the same. I am very proud to have been the first driving instructor with KISS to qualify with a 6 – 6 and now I work alongside, Rod , Christine and the rest of their teams because we want to help others do the same.

Ollie passed Her Part 2 Practical Driving Test at Southampton

Big well done to Ollie from Southampton who has passed her Part 2 practical driving test at Southampton (Maybush) Driving Test Centre with just 3 driving faults. Ollie has been doing her Part 3 driving instructor training alongside her Part 2 training with Neil and his team in Southampton and Wimborne on a weekly basis. She will soon be seen on the streets of Southampton working on a trainee licence and developing her instructional ability skills whilst teaching learners .

KISS Driving Instructor Training in Kingston

Training in Kingston Tuesday morning with Omar and Debbie and seven trainees including Fatumah who is preparing for her lunchtime Part 3 driving instructor training test. Hamad is obviously using our training aids as he is clearly progressing his technique session by session we can expect to see him in Anerley this afternoon. Shanti who, like Hamad has come to us from a SW London trainer clearly has a lot to learn about Part 2 but is willing to develop her driving skills. Trainers work through the morning to make sure that all trainees get a one to one training session.

Fatumah Passes Her Part 3 Driving Instructor Training

News filtering through Fatumah has passed her Part 3 Driving Instructor Training test and is now giggling like a school girl. Well done to every involved. As ever decent turn out of trainees wanting to work with Rod , Frances and Michel in Anerley. Fatumah’s friend Safia from Eltham is regularly complimented by her trainers for the way she is applying herself and developing her Part 3 skills. Rajesh and Matthew showing signs of nerves as they prepare for their Part 3 tests.

Karen from Blackwater Joins the KISS Driving Instructor Training Course

We would like to welcome Karen from Blackwater on to our Driving Instructor Training course as a result of another recommendation. Until recently Karen ran a pub and wanted a career change and had been looking to become a driving instructor. She had her first Part 2 training session on her visit to us when she came to look at our unique ADI training aids and technique. Karen has confirmed she will be training with us three times a week in Camberley, Kingston and Southampton with the aim of working on a trainee licence within 3-4 months.

KISS Driving Instructor Team in Bishops Stortford

Good turn out of trainees for Tony and the team in Bishops Stortford considering its school holiday time. Kelly from Bishops Stortford is ready for her Part 2 driving test, working with Jerry from Peterborough to get his voice working better for both Part 2 and Part 3 training, Dave from Romford needs to pass his Part 1 Theory test as he is ready for Part 2 driving test and his Part 3 training is going well. Others are developing their Part 2 and 3 skills and will be taking their Part 3 tests in the next few months.

Should we use a sledge hammer to crack a nut?

The DSA have shown, over the last ten years or more they are unable to drive through change and they certainly haven’t demonstrated how they would train instructors to meet their currently stated  needs. In Germany trainee instructors go to university for six months to study phsycology. Ask a Part 3 examiner ‘why do you want to drive’ and you are likely get the response ‘what’s that got to do with anything’. The first issue is that there are too many trainers with insufficient knowledge to train instructors, particularly in the skills of ‘client centred learning. Similarly they will not be able to deliver coaching skills training, essential to delivering the higher levels of the GDE Matrix. Has DSA considered how this is going to be addressed as without a higher level of competence the instructors will be unable to deliver the driver standards syllabus. The flaws as we see it in the DSA argument for their preferred option are as follows: DSA endorsed the Hermes project f

Blair Dixon Gets His Trainee Driving Licence

Alan and his ADI Training team in Camberley have achieved a first as Blair Dixon gets his trainee licence just 12 weeks after joining our Driving Instructor Training Programme. Alan says “Blair was able to take advantage of the fact we are the only company prepared to deliver PART 1, Part 2 and Part 3 training immediately when someone joins the course” adding “as a result we were able to train Blair whilst waiting for his CRB check and PDI registration”.  Blair will now be expected to continue training with us on a weekly basis in order for us to help him achieve his ambition to become a driving instructor. Well done everyone, keep up the good work.

Shanti from New Malden

Shanti from New Malden who is yet another trainee driving instructor who has joined us having been failed by another training organisation. We gave Shanti a free driver training session to show her how we train instructors to pass the driving instructor training part 2 driving test. This allowed her too immediately see the difference between the way we coach our trainee driving instructors and compare it too what she had previously done. Shanti has agreed to do Pay As You Go for her Part 2 and she will be offered a cost effective package deal for her Part 3 instructional ability training. Welcome on board Shanti from Dieter and his team in Kingston, Rod and his team in Anerley and Abdul and his team in Battersea.

Ilhem from Uxbridge

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has again awarded us with a contract to deliver our driving instructor training programme to Ilhem from Uxbridge. Ilhem had previously attempted to pass the Part 2 driving test with the assistance of an ADI but had failed three times. She has now passed the Part 1 theory test by herself and has now started to attend our ADI Training with Kaye and her team in Uxbridge.

Welcome on board David from Romford

David from Romford who has been enrolled on our Driving Instructor Training programme by the Department of Work and Pensions. This is as a result of us being able to ensure trainees complete the qualification process to become a driving instructor. David will become a qualified driving instructor once he has completed his ADI Training and go on to enjoy a career as a driving instructor. He has already begun his Part 2 and Part 3 training and we anticipate he will be working on a trainee licence within a couple of months.

Reginald Joins KISS after a Bad Experience with Other Driving Instructor Programmes

We are happy to welcome Reginald, yet another Part 3 trainee who has joined our driving instructor training programme in Anerley, Battersea and Kingston. Like many other trainees who join us, Reginald wasn’t able to progress with the organisation he originally paid to train him. Having delivered both minimal and inadequate training the company concerned demanded more and more money which their contract permitted them to do. Too many companies have too much small print in which they bury bad news. Buyer beware!

Hamed joins the KISS Driving Instructor Training Programme

We would like to welcome on board Hamed from New Malden who has joined our Driving Instructor Training programme . Hamed was unhappy with the Part 3 at Brittania as he found their ADI training didn’t prepare him to become a driving instructor. He now has our unique training aids and within the first week feels he will be able to progress to qualifying. Hamed is training with Dieter and his team in Kingston and Abdul and his team in Battersea .

KISS Driving Instructor Training School Asks DSA for Clarifications

Here are some more Freedom of Information requests our PR guru Brian is considering throwing at the DSA : 1. The DSA survey states that only 40% of PDIs apply for a trainee licence - can you please show the figures that were used for statement. 2. With regard to the recent survey on driving instructor training can you please supply a breakdown of respondents in the following categories How many are active ADIs How many are retired ADIs How many are active PDIs How many are PDIs that failed to qualify How many are trainers on the  ORDIT register How many are trainers not on the ORDIT register How many are driving schools How many are independent ADIs How many are driving examiners or employees of the DSA How many are members of the general public not included in the above categories.  We anticipate we may get an answer to question 1 and doubt we will get an answer to 2. If that’s the case the results of their survey will be undermined. Can anyone think of any

Michal from Orpington - A Happy Man

Everyone at KISS IT want to congratulate one of our polish instructors Michal from Orpington who has passed his first check test with a grade 5 at Belvedere driving test centre. Michal sent us the following message before taking a well earned break back in Poland. ‘ I would like to say huge thank you to ROD from Anerley training centre. He is great Driving Instructor, Trainer, Friend.... He is very helpful and he cares like nobody else. I have just passed my Check Test and I am happy grade 5 driving instructor. ROD thank you for your help and support. Also I would like to say thank you to Christine and her daughter and Rob in Belvedere who helped keep me calm and for a support. Nearly forgot to say thank you DAVID - next time I will take your advice and will relax..... I AM HAPPY MAN .’

Welcome on board Mubarek

We welcome Mubarek to our driving instructor training programme, having failed his Part 3 training with another supplier. Because he has failed to qualify within two years of passing Part 1 Mubarek has decided to train with Bob, Abdul and the team in Battersea . He will start his Part 2 and Part 3 training on Tuesday with Dieter, Andy and the team in Kingston .

ADI training teams in Kingston & Battersea working with Tanveer

Congratulations to Tanveer as he embarks on the last leg of his training to become a driving instructor as he gets his trainee licence. Tanveer tells us he is looking forward to reaping the benefits of all the driving instructor training he has done over the last six months. He trains with Dieter and his ADI training team in Kingston and he works with Bob and the Battersea guys .

Driving Instructor Qualification Set for Future Overhaul

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is consulting on a range of proposals to modernise the way in which people qualify to become approved driving instructors (ADIs). The aim is to further improve training for new drivers and offer a cost-effective and flexible training route for new instructors.  Proposals include the option of replacing the existing DSA qualifying tests with a new vocational qualification. This would: Be delivered by approved training centres and assessed by an external awarding organisation Incorporate transferable credits that trainees could carry forward to other vocational qualifications, allowing for better job mobility Be aligned with DSA’s national standards that set out what skills are needed to be an effective driving instructor Reflect any changes introduced as a result of the government’s upcoming green paper on young drivers The consultation also includes a proposal to reform the trainee licence scheme which allows trainee instructors to gai
